Privacy
This page explains what happens to information you send through this website: the weekly menu, the box builder, the delivery checker and the chat assistant. It is written to meet UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.
Paying by card happens somewhere else, on Jay’s shop at shop.jaysbakes.co.uk, which collects different things and has its own privacy policy. Jay is responsible for both.
What is collected
If you send an enquiry, we receive the name and contact details you type in and whatever you write in the message. Nothing else is collected. There is no analytics on this page, no advertising pixel and no third-party tracking.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser.
The chat assistant
Messages you type into the chat assistant are sent to a server to generate a reply, and a transcript is kept only long enough to answer you. Please do not type medical information, card details or anything else sensitive into it. If you have an allergy, message Jay directly and speak to a person.
How long it is kept
Enquiries are kept for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of the order, and then deleted.
Paying for an order
This site does not take the payment itself and stores nothing you type into it. When you order, your treats, your delivery or collection choice and the address you typed are carried over to the checkout in the link, so you do not have to type them again. The delivery checker is the one thing that reaches a server of Jay’s, and it sends only the postcode, never a street address, to work out the driving distance. If you message Jay instead of paying by card, what you typed goes into your own WhatsApp message, which you send.
If you pay by card you are handed over to Jay’s shop on Shopify, which does collect your name, email, phone and delivery address in order to take and deliver the order. That is covered by the privacy policy at shop.jaysbakes.co.uk. Card numbers are handled by Shopify and never reach Jay.
Fonts and hosting
The typefaces on these pages are loaded from Google Fonts, and the site itself is served through Cloudflare. Both of them see your IP address and your browser version, because that is how any file reaches you over the internet. Neither is given your name, your message or your order. Google’s notice is at policies.google.com/privacy and Cloudflare’s at cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
The contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile, a security check that tells people from spam bots without a puzzle. It looks at your browser and connection when the form loads and sends nothing you type to Cloudflare. It sets no advertising cookies.
Who else sees it
Nobody is sent what you write. Your name, your message and your order are not sold, shared or passed to any third party for marketing. The only companies involved are the ones named above, and they handle the technical side of getting this page to you.
Your rights
You can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email contact@jaysbakes.co.uk. If you are not happy with the response you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
